Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely half term and enjoyed a bit of a rest (or not, as the case may be).
We started the week off with a brilliant Basketball lesson where we practised our shooting skills and applied them to a game situation - very impressive skills from the Merlins! In maths we have been continuing our work on fractions and finding fractions of amounts. We started off with unit fractions, then non-unit fractions and today we applied these skills to worded problems; however, we are probably sick of bar models by now!
In English, we have started our new unit all about stories from different cultures. We wrote our cold write, acted our text out, created symbol maps and today we have been finding the toolkit in the text. It's been a busy week but we've loved learning the text about a boy with a bit of an issue with a fox (who turns out to be very helpful).
In Topic, we have been learning about what makes us living and comparing different living things. We have grouped them and used some excellent scientific vocabulary. Today, we have been learning about how we classify vertebrates and have started making some fantastic posters to inform others of what we've learnt.
Finally, yesterday we had to say goodbye to Miss Hall. The Merlins have really enjoyed working with her and we wish her luck back for the final part of her teaching placement.
