Wow! what a busy and exciting first week of the summer term!
On Monday we loved our 'hook' day to get us all excited for our new topic of 'Who invented the circus?' Jay came in for our circus workshop and we loved learning new skills such as the diabolo, devil sticks, plate spinning ad juggling. Then, in the afternoon it was nice to have a break and watch The Greatest Showman with some popcorn. On Tuesday however, we had to get back into the normal routine...
In Maths we are starting Money and will be doing this for two weeks. It'd be great if you could get your children using money as much as possible, calculating change and learning the coins to make our problem solving even easier.
In English, we are looking at biographies and have been learning about a very important man called Thomas Edison, who will be very important to our work with electricity next week. In Topic, we have been learning about the Victorians and what life would have been like in school back then. Turns out we are not well equipped for life in Victorian Britain!
Finally on Friday we went to Repton School for the Singing Worksop. Our behaviour was impeccable and I am so proud of the Merlins! They tried hard and the singing was out of this world! Very proud teacher moment.
