In maths this week we have been finding equivalent fractions and ordering fractions.
In English, we have consolidated our understanding of writing dialogue by adding extra details to show how the words are being said and what the speaker was doing as he spoke. We have also started to look at plays and how stories can be made into play scripts.
In readiness for our Viking day visitor, we made Viking shields and helmets. We had a wonderful day on Thursday and the children gained such a lot from the experience. Our Viking visitor told us all about the daily lives of Viking people and showed us the objects they used. He taught us lots about Viking warriors and the equipment they used and dispelled a few myths that we often see in films. Finally he showed us the way Vikings were buried and the evidence archaeologists would find remaining in burial sites today.
Finally, tonight is our year 3 sleepover. Please ensure children are back at school for 6pm. Help with setting the tents up at this time would be greatly appreciated as would dismantling them on Saturday morning as children are collected after the gates are opened at 8am.
