We have had a fantastic week, making a good start on our English, Maths and Topic lessons. The children have had to a lot to learn about expected standards of presentation but they have all tried really hard and produced some very neat work that they should be proud of! This week, the children have also completed a painting of Repton in the style of Clarice Cliff for the British Legion Competition. Details of the display will follow next week in a letter.
The children really enjoyed going down to the pool this week. The main part of the lesson there was for pool staff to teach the children safety rules and to assess children’s confidence and abilities. This now means that they have been placed in the appropriate groups ready to start lessons properly next week.
All children have now been placed on a reading book appropriate to their ability. Please write in their Homework Diary when you hear then read. They will also be reading as part of a group Guided Reading lesson every week.
We will be issuing English and Maths homework on alternate weeks from Monday. Spellings will be given every week to be assessed the following Friday (this week’s are below). In addition, there will be a Topic project to complete across the half term. Please look at the Homework section of the website for details of this.
Finally, we would like to invite you to our ‘Meet the Teacher’ night on Wednesday 19th September at 3.30pm. This is a chance for you to come to your child’s class room and find out a little more about what we will be doing this year and get to know the teaching team. We look forward to seeing you then!
