In English this week we have started to learn about writing instructions. We hope you have not been bothered by the terrible dragon in Repton, however if we follow our instructions we will soon have him trapped!
In maths, we have been learning to multiply double digit by single digit numbers. We began by using bricks which we then represented in pictures. Finally we have learned to set the questions out in a column method as set out in the White Rose strategy. Your children have also had new log in details for Rock Star Timetables. This works in a similar way to Spelling Shed with lots of games to develop times tables skills. Most children had the chance to log on and try it out on Thursday. We hope you will enjoy playing the games with your children to improve their skills and speed.
On Wednesday we had a wonderful afternoon at Repton independent school, watching the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. The children were very well behaved and attentive, joining in with making rhythms.
During the week we have set up our new aquarium. The children have learned about the different types of aquarium that are available and the best place to put them. They have also learned why it is important not to tap the glass.
This week’s spellings- Review week
Children will have chosen some spellings themselves that they need to work on.
