Firstly a big thank you to those of you who attended the Maths curriculum meeting yesterday. We hope this has helped you understand what your children are doing in lessons and how you can support them.
In Maths this week, we have been continuing with 3, 4 and 8 times tables work. It is most important that children know these along with 2, 5 and 10s as they will be the first cohort to complete the new statutory government times tables tests next year. Regardless of this, we see a huge difference in mathematical ability between those who are confident with tables and those who are not.
In English this week we have completed our stories with imaginary settings and started persuasive writing. The children really enjoyed the visit from Millie, Mrs Scott-Barrett’s dog. We hope this will inspire the children when they start their writing.
We have now given all of the children their log-in details for Spelling Shed and set the first activities. The children have had a chance to log on and look at the site which will help them with spelling in general and the weekly focus. It works along similar lines to Mathletics with games and points.
Here are next week’s spellings.
