We have thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks learning about WW1. The children have found out about the life of the soldiers in the trenches and the families they left behind. They have written poems, letters and instructions in English lessons as well as lots of discussions about feelings. In art lessons they have developed lots of new skills. They have made felt poppies using sewing skills, experienced using clay and using fusible plastic beads. They have made model bi-planes from pegs and cardboard improving measuring and cutting skills. Their work has been complied into a scrap book and looks marvellous. We hope you were able to come to see our display today.
Next week we return to our normal curriculum and start a new English block about imaginary worlds based on the fantastic book, “Leon and the Place Between”. As an exciting start to our work, we will be visited by a magician on Monday afternoon. We would like to thank the PTA for providing the funds to enable us to do this.
Finally, just a quick reminder about swimming. Children need to bring their coats every week now it is colder. For school swimming lessons our uniform is plain dark blue or black costumes with minimal colouring detail- no beach wear or baggy shorts. Thank you for your help with this.
