We have had a very busy week in Otters.
We had a lovely and slightly soggy visit to Chestnut Woodlands Forest School. We used team work to build shelters, had acorn and pine cone treasure hunts and climbed trees. We learned our boundaries and how to respond to an emergency call.
In literacy, we have read the 'Enormous Crocodile'. We have answered questions about the story. We have been reading individually and working on understanding what we have read and decoding words we do not know. We have reviewed our initial sounds and digraphs. We worked on using 'c' as a basis for forming a group of letters in cursive writing. The Firestone family have reminded us to use capital letters at the beginning of a sentence and a name.
In maths, we have consolidated our knowledge of place value in two digit numbers. We investigated the best way to count a large number of items. Next week, we will be working on reading number words and finding a place for the two digit numbers between 0 and 100.
Our topic begins next week- we will be learning about British forest trees and beginning an experiment about the best conditions to grow a plant.
Our half term project has been sent. New spellings and a maths sheet have been sent for this week's homework.
