This week in Maths we have continued with our learning on fractions. We have been subtracting fractions and we have been particularly focusing on using flexible partitioning to subtract a fraction from a mixed number. We are getting really good at this and we have been reminding ourselves that we can also say fractions as __ out of __ equal parts.
In English we have written our hot writes for our 'Alien Landing' stories. We have also written a cold write for our new English topic, which is non-chronological reports. We have also spent some time looking over some of the key terminology that we need to know for grammar. We have been spotting these in sentences and having a go at writing some sentences of our own.
Thank you very much to all of the parents that attended the information meeting for our residential trip. The presentation and kit list is now available to view on the 'Whitemoor Lakes' section of our class page. I have got a letter to gather some of the last bits of information that I need to collect from you, which I will send home next week.
We had a very exciting workshop on Friday with Rolls Royce. We thought about programming and did this through a maze activity first. We then got to use the Edison robots and we could programme what we wanted them to do through the iPad. We all had fun experimenting with the different things that we could programme Edison to do. We were very grateful that they actually let us keep the 6 Edison robots to use in the future at school. These will be very useful for our computing lessons.
