The penultimate week for the Hedgehogs! One more week until they have a well deserved 6 week break and move into their new class, the Owls!
This week, the Hedgehogs have been working really hard in Maths, English and Topic this week.
In Maths this week, we have been looking at the value of notes and coins. We have looked at how some coins are copper, silver and gold and how they are worth different amounts. We then created our own shops in the classroom and pretended to use money to buy items around the classroom! To do this, we had to add the value of coins to find the total amount. Next week we are going to look at time; looking at o'clock and half past.
In English this week, we have started our final unit on poetry. We have been learning the poem of 'Ocean Home'. We have looked at the structure of a poem, looking at what stanzas are and how the poem is structured in rhyming couplets. We have been speedy this week and we have even innovated the poem too! We will be planning and writing our own poems next week.
In Topic this week, we have continued to look at the Titanic. With Mrs Ward, we have sketched a drawing of the Titanic, using sketching pencils to create a black and white design of what the Titanic would have looked like. We also looked at what life was like on board the Titanic, looking at the different people who were on board and how they lived.
A fantastic week for the Hedgehogs, one more week to go!
