Just want to say a massive thank you to all the parents that came to Parent's Evening this week. It was a pleasure to see you all and to speak about the amazing progress that the children have made. If there is anything that we did not discuss at parents evening and you would like to ask me, please do not hesitate to get in touch, either via Parent Hub or through the school's email address. I can either reply directly via email or we can arrange an appointment.
In Maths this week, we have finished our work on capacity and volume. We have done various activities throughout the week to push our learning on capacity and volume. We have carried out an investigation as to how many small water bottles can fit inside a large water bottle. We have looked at how we can order capacities based on their size. Next week, we will be starting our multiplication and division unit, which we will continue in the next term.
In English, we have continued our work on the poem "The Earth is Poorly". This week, we innovated the poem by changing one of the senses. In pairs, we all thought of a way to change one of the descriptions in the senses. We then voted on our favourite idea. We then looked at how to create a really good rhyming sentence in a poem. Next week, we will be writing our own poems!
In Topic, we have looked at a poem called Morris the Messy Magpie. It is about a magpie that goes around and collects rubbish, thinking it is treasure, when really it is harming the environment. From the poem, we talked as a class about some things that we can do to help the environment better. From the discussion, we then moved onto recycling and we looked around the classroom at things that could be recycled. We then sorted through pictures of what can be recycled and what couldn't be recycled. Next week, we will be using recycled bottles to create some art work.
1 week until Easter!
