We have worked very hard in Hedgehogs this week and I think they are all deserving of a break!
In Maths this week, we have been looking at sharing and grouping of objects. We looked at the idea of sharing equally and what it means to share equally. We divided sweets between plates and moved onto dividing pictures into groups. After half term, we will be starting a new section on Fractions.
In English this week, we have been learning our new piece which is a recount about our Sea Life trip. We have been learning some fantastic vocabulary that we can include in our recounts, such as first, then, next, after, finally. After half term, we will be innovating the recounts and creating our own recounts.
In Topic this week, we have finished off our portholes which are now on display in the bay area of the Hedgehog classroom. We have also created brochures about the Sea Life Centre trip to get other people to come to the Sea Life Centre. We have also used maps to find the oceans of the world and there is a memorable song that we have been learning which I will attach in a link below. After half term, we will be explorers and we will discover who explored and found the Americas. We will also look at ships and shipwrecks, including the Titanic!
I have sent home a sheet with 20 real and 20 nonsense words to practise. If you have the time, please could you get your child to practise reading the words to an adult. Phonics Screening check is 3 weeks away now.
Enjoy a well deserved rest!
We have been doing a doubling game in class which the children have been really enjoying. Below is a link if you would like to access it at home.
