The Hedgehogs have been working really hard with their Christmas rehearsals this week. We have put a lot of time and effort into learning the lines, and we cannot wait for you to see our production. It's going to be a good one!
This week in Maths, we consolidated our work on Shape by looking at 3D shapes. The children really challenged themselves in finding the difference between a 2D and a 3D shape. We looked at the 3D shapes; cylinder, sphere, cube, cuboid and a cone and looked at everyday objects that resembled these shapes. We have learnt new vocabulary this week, especially the term 'faces'. We also found that 3D shapes had 2D shape faces on them!
This week in English, each of the children planned and invented their own set of instructions. We have innovated the set of instructions on 'how to conquer an enemy' and each child has used this as a starting block to make their own instructions. We had children who wrote instructions on 'How to Train a Hedgehog', 'How to do Kickboxing', and even 'How to make Mr Armishaw scared?'. Next week, we will be editing our instructions and moving on to our next English piece.
In Phonics, Mr Armishaw's group have started on phase 5 sounds. They have looked at the ay, ou, ea and ie sounds so far. Mrs Wain's group have recapped phase 3 sounds and are working on phase 4 blending.
In Topic, we have looked at William the Conqueror. We drew a picture of him in our Topic books and learnt a little bit about his life.
The Hedgehogs have worked really hard this week, not long now till Christmas time!
