In Maths this week, we have started to delve into multiplication (just a little bit!) We have looked at how we count in 2s, 5s and 10s. We have explored patterns in counting in 2s (the numbers end in 2, 4, 6, 8, or a 0), counting in 5s (the numbers end in 5 or an 0) and counting in 10s (the numbers end in a 0). We will do more learning on this at the start of the Summer term. Next week, we will be moving onto looking at length and height and we will be doing lots of measuring.
In English this week, we have started to look into story writing. The children were asked to create their own imaginative story as part of their Cold Write for this unit. We are reading the story of "Dinosaurs and All that Rubbish" by Michael Foreman, a brilliant imaginative book that has themes about how humans are destroying the planet by pollution. We have story mapped the story. Next week we will move onto innovating the story.
In Topic this week, we looked back at our work on plants and we have looked at how trees are similar to plants, but they have different terms for their parts. The children enjoyed going outside and enjoyed identifying parts of the trees in school.
On Thursday, it is World Book Day. Please could you ensure your child is dressed as a character from any book that they know of. Children are expected to bring in a book that they are willing to permanently swap with another child in the classroom. Please be aware that the child will not receive the book back as it is a permanent swap. Please can parents ensure that all children have their reading book and diary with them as parent volunteers are coming in to listen to the Hedgehogs read. We are looking forward to seeing your exciting costumes!
Another great week Hedgehogs, well done!
