This week seems to have flown by!
Our week started off with half of the children going to the cinema to watch Stan & Ollie on Monday morning. They loved the film and learnt a lot about Laurel and Hardy. The rest of the class visited the cinema on Friday and loved it too. Members of the public commented on how well- behaved all of the children were, which was fantastic to hear!
Whilst half of the children were at the cinema the rest of the children completed some music activities, our focus song is happy by Pharrell Williams, we looked at how the song is made up and were able to find the pulse and we even had a go at singing along!
During Maths, we have been working on percentages and we started algebra today. There were some tricky activities during the percentage work, but the children have all persevered very well and managed to crack it!
In English, we have been focussing on formal language. We introduced our model text which is a journalistic recount. This is what the children will be writing by the end of this topic based on their trip to the cinema. The children have also learnt about the subjunctive form and we have devised some top tips to remember this!
We have also started some art work based around Clarice Cliff - a ceramic artist. The art deco style was very popular in the theatres, which is why we have used Clarice Cliff as inspiration. The children have created their own design based on her ideas, these will be displayed on a paper plate in the classroom.
Have a great weekend Badgers.
