Well, we have had another jam-packed week in Eagles. It has involved us carrying out an experiment to find out how plants take up moisture from their roots, looking at proper and improper fractions and analysing diary entries and their features.
Within English this week we have looked at and analysed diary entries. We have thought about their features and identified them in our WAGOLL. We have also honed our understanding and use of adverbials of time and place as these are a very important part of diary entries. And finally this week we even wrote our own diary entry from the point of view of one the characters from ‘The Explorer’, our superb Guided Reading book. A brilliant week for English Eagles.
Maths has seen us delve even deeper into fractions. We have looked at improper fractions and how we can convert them into mixed numbers. We have also looked at equivalent fractions and how we can use them to compare fractions with different denominators. We also played a really fun fractions Top Trumps game.
Science this week has involved us carrying on with our very interesting topic of Plants. After having worked out what seeds need most to grow effectively, this week we have focused on how plants absorb the water they need to grow. We carried out a very interesting experiment involving food colouring, white flowers and a vase. I wonder if you can guess what we did? We will let you know the results of this next week.
Within R.E. we have carried on thinking about why festivals are important to different religions. This week we focused on the Hindu festival of Diwali, the children learnt all about the story of Rama and Sita and how this story inspires Hindu’s around the world to believe in hope and goodness.
As per our Parent Hub all the information about our exciting residential to Whitemoor Lakes is now in the Parent Information section of our Class Page. If you have any questions regarding our trip please do let me know. A little reminder as well that the final balance for the residential will need to be paid by the end of this month. Thank you for your co-operation with this.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
