We have had a busy week full of multiplication, stories from different cultures and Brazil!
In English, we have started our new unit on stories from different cultures and looked at the creation story of 'Madrugada'. We have learnt the text through actions on Monday, found the toolkit on Tuesday, summarised each paragraph on Wednesday, compared to an African creation story on Thursday and created our own titles for possible creation stories on Friday! It's been lovely to get back into narrative writing after some tough subject matter last term!
In Maths, we have started our new unit on multiplication and division. This week has been a multiplication focus with 4 x 1, 2 x 2, 3 x 2 and some of us even got onto 4 x 2! This will need lots of revision throughout the year to keep the process fresh in our minds but we have coped very well with a tough concept! Next week we will look at division.
In Topic, we have started our new Geography topic on Brazil. We spent our first lesson looking at the world map and naming key geographical features to describe Brazil's location and then on Friday we looked at Brazil in closer detail, naming bordering countries and cities.
In P.E. we started our gymnastics topic we looking at some floor positions such as tuck, straddle, pike, front support and back support as well as balances. In Music we played hot cross buns using the notes 'B' 'A;' and 'G' - the tunes been in my head all week! In PSHE we are thinking about what we would like to be when we grow up and what skills would help us achieve our dream job. In RE we started looking at Islam and in French we have started our unit on healthy eating and learning about food - yum! We also had an impromptu rock concert on Wednesday which was amazing! The boys had never played as a three before and played 4 fantastic songs! Well done, three amigos!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Cotton
