We have had another busy week in Foxes. It has involved investigating soundproofing, discovering decimals and analysing adventures.
In English this week we started our new unit of Adventure Stories. We have studied our model text and thought about some different sentence structures that would add detail to our written work. We have also written diary entries from the point of view of the main character in our story. We thought carefully about his emotions and feelings and including them in our diary entry.
Maths has involved fractions and decimals.
Year 4 have worked on dividing one digit and two digit numbers by 10 and 100. At the end of the week, they consolidated this learning by creating their own board games.
Year 5 have looked at fractions as decimals, understanding thousandths and thousandths as decimals. They have made a fantastic start to this aspect of Maths.
They have all worked very hard!
We also carried out our soundproofing investigations – testing out which materials absorb sound the most. We used an online sound meter to record the sound level in decibels.
Our spellings this week are:
Year 4: The ‘s’ sound spelt ‘c’ before ‘I’ and ‘e’ – circle, century, centaur, circus, princess, voice, medicine, celebrate, celery, pencil.
Year 5: Homophones – aisle, isle, aloud, allowed, altar, alter, ascent, assent, farther, father.
I hope you have a lovely weekend,
