Well what a fantastic week we have had!
In English, we started our new work on information text and the children have been learning about what makes a paragraph.
In maths, we have continued our work on addition and subtraction and we have been seeing how number bonds can help us to work quickly and accurately. For example, if 2+6=8, 20+60=80 and 200+600=800.
The highlight of our week, was most defiantly our Roman day today. The children all looked marvellous in their costumes. They had lots of fun learning about key periods of Roman history. They leaned about the story of Romulus and Remus, Boudicca and the different Roman invasions. We looked at and handled lots of different Roman artefacts, played a Roman board game and answered questions in a quiz. They particularly enjoyed the afternoon where we leaned about armour and weapons then re-enacted the Battle of Watling Street. The day ended with a spear throwing contest (don’t worry, only made of foam!) I am sure they all gained a lot from the day and we were very proud of how they behaved and interacted. The workshop leader was particularly complementary of their attitude and said it is always a pleasure to come to our school.
