Happy New Year!

We hope you had a restful break.  We have welcomed the children back this week and they have settled back in brilliantly, they are raring to go.  As we have started a new term, we have started new topics. Our main topic this term is America.  We have started this off by looking at the different states and researching these, to then create a map of North America which is displayed in our classroom.

In Science we have started our topic of living things and in particular looked into classification this week. We classified animals that would appear in our new zoo.  During PSHE we have started focussing on ourselves ‘Being Me’. This week we have looked into recognising positive things about ourselves and finding out about each others skills.

In English we have started a topic called Alien Landing, this is a story with a flash forward, we have learnt the model text and written some fantastic setting descriptions based on a picture. We have also written a newspaper report about what happened during the alien sighting.

In Maths, we are working on decimals, this is a two week topic so we will continue this next week too.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Ravens.
