Well, this week has definitely been a busy one! It has involved us writing our Newspaper article, learning about analysing line graphs and a jam-packed WWII day.
In English we have written and edited our Newspaper Article. I have been so impressed with the children’s improvements with this unit of work, they have really put themselves into the shoes of a journalist at the end of WWII.
In Maths the children have begun a new unit which involves studying statistics. This week we have looked at line graphs and how we can interpret data from them.
Today the children were fully immersed in the life of a child in the midst of WWII as we undertook our evacuee day. The children all took part so brilliantly and I really think this experience helped them to understand at least part of what the life of a child living through WWII was like. They created Anderson shelters, both life sized and miniature, they created their own gas mask boxes and also tested out their Anderson shelters. In the afternoon the children were evacuated, they prepared their own evacuation labels and thought about what they would have felt at this time. Well done Eagles, a brilliant day which we hope you enjoyed but also made you think about the tough lives these children had.
Thank you again for your cardboard donations.
Have a lovely weekend with your evacuees,
Stay Safe
