Wow, a very busy half term has ended in a very busy week! We performed a rousing concert, learned about the life cycle of a plant and even wrote some super formal letters to the CEO's of lots of companies that use palm oil.
English involved us undertaking the final part of our research into palm oil and its negative impacts and writing our own formal letters. The children carried out some brilliant research and have written some very informative letters. Well done, Eagles!
In Maths we have started looking at the subtraction of fractions, the children all worked very hard to understand this, and as much as they get bored with me saying it, their times tables definitely play a big part! So, keep practising them.
In Science we rounded off our Plants unit by learning about the life cycle of a plant and how animals like bees are a vital part of that. We talked about how plants are pollinated and how seeds form and grow.
We are now half way through our brilliant year of learning how to play the clarinet! The children blow me away (literally and metaphorically!) every week with how their confidence grows and how they all improve and that was definitely seen in their concert this week. All of the other classes were so impressed by both their singing and clarinet playing skills, and we hope you will be too.
We hope you have a wonderful half term holiday, get lots of rest and come back raring to go for the Spring Half Term 2. The new curriculum map for this half term is now on our website so you can have a look at what the children will be covering this half term. We will be carrying on with our Geography Topic unit of Brazil, we will be focusing more on the Human Geography aspect this half term. This will involve the children looking at, amongst other things: Rio Carnival and the stark contrast between the lives of both the richest people in Brazil and the poorest. Our Science unit will be Rocks which will be an interesting one for the children to look at too.
This new half term will also see us undertaking our residential which Mrs Karamucki and I are very excited about. We will be sending out the kit list after half term. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us.
Thank you for all your support this term.
Stay safe
