WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

17.09.21

Well, we have definitely had a fun filled second week back at school.  This week consisted of String Quartets, Benchball and brilliant discussions about the beginning of World War 2.

Within Maths this week we have carried on with our Number and Place Value unit.  We have looked at ordering numbers up to one million and thought about how partitioning numbers can help us understand them even more.

English has seen us focus on and identify fronted adverbials and adverbial phrases as well as thinking about how we demarcate speech correctly.  We have also begun to carry out our research for our final piece of writing which we will start next week.

We were lucky enough to be treated to a concert by a wonderful String Quartet this week.  We all enjoyed listening to a variety of pieces from composers such as Bach, Haydin and Kapustin.  The children participated brilliantly in the discussions about how these pieces sounded very different as well as thinking carefully about the way all 4 instruments brought something different to the music.  We also played a very good game of Guess the Film/T.V theme tune, which proved harder than we all thought.

In P.E. this week we had a benchball lesson due to the inclement weather where we practised the different passes and pivoting. We will apply these skills to our netball lessons that will hopefully next on Monday, weather permitting.

We also began learning about what led up to the start of WWII in our Topic lessons.  The children thought carefully about why WWII happened as well as why Adolf Hitler came to power.  I was incredibly proud of all of the points they all shared and how respectfully and maturely they dealt with this topic.  Well done Eagles

We have sent our first piece of homework home this week.  Please let me know if you have any problems with the homework on the class email address: eagles@repton-pri.derbyshire.sch.uk

I hope you all have a wonderful restful weekend.

Stay safe
