ReptonPrimary School

Well, the Puffins have had another brilliant week.

Within English we have been creating interesting sentence openers starting with both adjectives and adverbs as well as using adjectives, similes and expanded noun phrases to describe settings and characters.  We have begun adapting the Stone Age Boy to create our own version of the story.  Our trip to Crasswell Crags has really helped inspire the children and give them an insight into how people from the Stone Age lived.

In Maths we have been learning about place value.  We have used this knowledge to help us find 10, 100 and 1000 more than a given number, as well as 10, 100 and 1000 less than a given number.

In our Topic lessons we have continued to look at cave art and create some of our own which all look amazing!

Year 3 started their swimming lessons this week, they all worked very hard and enjoyed the opportunity.  The children have now been put into four groups and they will begin their lessons properly next week.  We would like to say a special thank you to our volunteers who walked down with us.  We really appreciate your help.  Please remember girl’s costumes should be one piece and boys should wear short swimming trunks, not board shorts. Both should be fairly plain and dark in colour. Although hats are not compulsory, the pool recommend they wear them and is the colder months approach they will not then need to sit with wet hair for the rest of the day.We also had lots of fun playing games in P.E. that involve co-operation and team work.

Year 3: ‘u’ spelt ‘ou’ – touch, double, country, trouble, young, cousin, enough, encourage, flourish, couple.

Year 4: ‘in’ means ‘not’ – inactive, incorrect, invisible, insecure, inflexible, indefinite, inelegant, incurable, inability, inadequate.

All the Puffins really enjoyed our Sponsored Fun Run and we would like to say a big thank you to all of the children for taking part, as well as all of those who raised money for the School PTA.

Thank you and we hope you have a lovely weekend!
