This week in Maths we have been learning about place value and how we can use this to help us add and subtract 10,100 and 1000. We will be moving on to move work about addition and subtraction next week.
In English we have been about the use of adverb, fronted adverbial phrases, expanded noun phrases and similes to describe people and places. We have started to adapt our original story of 'Stone age Boy', by changing some aspects of it and next week we will begin writing our own story. The visit to Cresswell Crags has really helped to give the children the background information they needed to do this. In addition, in topic work we have been writing a diary entry of a child living in Stone Age times - I don't think they liked the idea of some of the jobs children may have done!
Our first trip to swimming was very exciting for our year 3 children and they all tried very hard. They have now been put into four groups and will begin the lessons properly next week. Please remember girl’s costumes should be one piece and boys should wear short swimming trunks, not long beach type shorts. Both should be fairly plain and dark in colour. Although hats are not compulsory, the pool recommend they wear them. This also means they will not need to sit with wet hair for the rest of the day.
The children had a lovely time at our 'Colour Run' on Friday. Thank you to all who supported us by collecting sponsor money.
