We have had a brilliant week this week, the children seem to be well settled in to the school routine now.
In maths this week we have been using number lines and counters to improve our understanding of the place value of 3-digit numbers.
During our English lessons we have been learning about the features of a recount and looking in more detail about how to make our sentences more interesting by including adjectives and by using a thesaurus. We have also started guided reading sessions this week and we have been focused on prediction skills.
We have now shared our holiday homework and we have all been very impressed by the fantastic job the children have done! Well done everyone! A reminder that maths homework is due in on Monday and the spellings for next week’s test are in the children’s homework diaries and listed below.
Mathletics homework logins will be issued next week and the children will be shown how to access their work. There are lots of fun games and tasks to support the curriculum in school.
We will also be sending the Year 3 and 4 spelling lists for you to work on with your child as needed during the year. We will assess these a couple of times during the year to see how they are progressing.
In our afternoon topic lessons we have been continuing with our scientific investigations focused on plants and we have also had a good go at some pointillism art in the style of George Seurat.
Thank you to all the parents that came to the meet the teacher, we hope you found it useful, it was lovely to meet you all.
