We have had another packed week in Squirrels which has included eggcellent experiments, Lion’s teeth and performance poetry!
In Maths this week Y3 and 4 have been working on correspondence and scaling problems. This has involved, amongst other things, looking at the legs of aliens and thinking about how many combinations there could be. It was a proper head scratching problem but the children tackled it brilliantly, they really used the skills they have developed so far in Multiplication and Division.
English this week has involved some brilliant performance poetry. On Monday the children performed Benjamin Zephaniah’s ‘Talking Turkeys’ they focused on volume, pace, expression among other things. We have also replaced nouns with pronouns to avoid repetition and planned and written our own Identity poems. Brilliant work this week Squirrels!
Within our Topic lessons, we have investigated the different types of teeth that different animal groups have, thinking about how the food that they eat affects the type of teeth they have. We have also started our eggciting investigation into how different liquids affect our teeth in different ways. We have thought carefully about the variables that we have and how to make our investigation a fair test.
Year 3 – ‘a’ sound spelt ‘ei’: vein, weigh, eight, neighbor, sleigh, reign, freight, reins, veil, eighteen.
Year 4 – adding on the suffix ‘ous’: poisonous, dangerous, mountainous, marvellous, perilous, tremendous, enormous, jealous, precious, disastrous.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
