ReptonPrimary School

25th March

We have started a new unit in both Maths and English this week.

In Maths, we have been learning about ratio. We started off by focusing on the language that we need to use within ratio. We then compared ratio to fractions and we looked at the differences. We have also learnt the notation that we use within ratio and we have answered word problems. Today we have moved on to look at enlarging shapes by scale factors.

In English, we have been looking at explanation texts. We have been text mapping, identifying the key features and working on writing sentences that include causal conjunctions.

In Science, we have been looking at the spectrum of light. We looked at how when the ray of white light shines through a triangular prism, we can see a rainbow of colours. We applied our knowledge of refraction and we learnt that red bends the least and violet bends the most. We then made colour wheels and after a bit of adjusting, we saw how when we turned our colour wheels quickly, the colours merged together to look white.

Thank you all so much for your kind donations today for our fundraiser for Ukrainian Refugees. We had a really sensible and mature conversation about current affairs and we were really impressed with the children's knowledge. We also discussed what we can do if we are ever upset or worried about the things that we hear in the news.

Have a lovely weekend.
