ReptonPrimary School

This week we have had a brilliant week writing our creation stories, solving problems in Maths and watching Jess Gillam MBE at the Repton 400 Hall.

On Monday morning we started our week with a bang and went down to Repton School to watch Jess Gillam MBE perform. She was an amazing saxophonist but also taught us lots about how to get into music and how to calm nerves! We even had one of our Eagles get up and play the saxophone with Jess!

Our division focus this week has been division and we have gone short division mad! We have all made progress with this method and on Thursday and Friday we applied it to worded problems - as well as understanding what operation the question is asking. We did this through representing problems visually so we could see if they were describing 'groups of' or 'sharing'.

In English we have spent the writing our creation stories set in Brazil. We have taken it nice and slow and the quality of these stories are out of this world! We have published these today for our writing wall and I think they are all very proud of themselves - I am definitely proud of them!

In Geography we compared the Amazon river to the Thames, thinking about human and physical features to find what they had in common. Then, on Friday, we learnt about the biomes in Brazil. In PE we continued our gymnastics and looking at jumps and balances. In RE they learned about the first Islamic pillar with Miss Roberts as well as describing what foods they liked and disliked in French. In Science we learnt about how mammals reproduce and that continued into our PSHE lesson where we learned about human reproduction. Finally, in music, they practised their concert for Tuesday and you are in for a treat!

Have a lovely weekend,
