We have had a really busy week this week in our topic work. Firstly, we have been learning to spin wool using a drop spindle. This is the way Saxons and Vikings would have produced the yarn to make their clothes. The children learned that this was a very long, slow process and were able to understand why people would not have had lots of different clothes. In our second lesson, we started to learn about the lives of Viking children. We learned to play a traditional game called Fox and Geese. Your child has bought a copy of this home with them for you to play together!
In English, we have been learning about writing expanded noun phrases. The children worked really hard to improve their writing using this skill. Next week we will start to plan our own story from another culture.
In maths, we have been using 3- and 4-times tables to multiply, divide and solve problems. Next week, we will be moving on to the 8 times table.
Our Christmas party is next Thursday. Children may come in their party clothes for the day but these must be warm and suitable for the playground. Could we please ask for a donation of £1 towards the food and prizes. Thank you.
