WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

6.12.19

We have had another lovely week in Puffins.

In Maths this week Year 3 have been looking at multiplying and dividing by 8.  Year 4 have been multiplying and dividing by 7.  We have all looked at dividing by 10 and 100.  We also used the greater than, less than and equal signs to answer problems involving missing numbers.

In English we have identified the features of a mystery story and used speech marks to improve our writing.  We have also innovated a paragraph of our own mystery story in groups, everybody worked brilliantly together sharing their ideas and listening respectfully to others.  We created our own similes for a setting and thought about how we can build suspense within a story using description involving our five senses as well as describing the character’s thoughts.  A very busy week!

Within our Topic lesson we have begun to learn about the Celts in the Iron Age.  We have looked at their clothing and the houses they lived in.

We all walked down to the “400 Hall” to watch KS1’s Christmas production.  We all really enjoyed it!  Well done KS1.

Spellings:

Year 3 – Adding suffixes with vowels: forgetting, forgotten, beginning, preferred, permitted, regretting, committed, forbidden, propelled, equipped.

Year 4 – Words with ‘sh’ spelt ‘ch’: chef, chalet, machine, brochure, parachute, chute, chaperone, chandelier, crochet, quiche.

As you may know we have now launched “Times Table Rockstars” in school.  It is a brilliant and fun way for the children to keep practicing and improving their times tables.
