Weekly Update - 8/11/2019

Welcome back to what we know is going to be another super busy half term in Puffins.  We hope you had a lovely half-term holiday and feel refreshed for the upcoming half term.

In English this week we have begun our brand new genre learning all about Diary Entries.  We have read the Diary entry of a Mine-Craft zombie and have learnt this text using both a symbol map and our own actions.  We have begun discussing what features are always in a Diary Entry as well.  In our SPAG lesson we have been writing using co-ordinating conjunctions.

Within Maths we have looked in even more depth at Column subtraction with exchanging.  We are continuing to practice our Times Tables daily, well done for all your hard work!  It is definitely showing as we have lots of children being able to move their rockets up in the Times Table solar system!

We have begun our Buddy Reading scheme this week.  The Puffins are reading with the Badgers.  All the children really enjoyed it, it was a brilliant way to discuss the books that we were reading with them and ask each other questions.

Year 3 – Words with prefix ‘re’: redo, refresh, return, reappear, redecorate, revenge, review, replay, reaction, rebound.

Year 4 – Suffix ‘ation’ added to verbs: information, sensation, preparation, vibration, decoration, donation, duration, registration, population, determination.

General Reminders:

P.E. is on Wednesday next week instead of Monday.  The week after it will be back to normal and will be on Monday again.

Can you please ensure that your child reads at least 3 times a week with an adult and that their Homework Diary is signed.  Thank you.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Scott-Barratt, Mrs Karamucki and Mrs Allsopp.
