This autumn term, we have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians as part of our Autumn Term History topic called “The Pride of Pyramids”. We have covered many aspects of Egyptian life such as childhood and jobs, and we have been investigating the question “Did the Egyptians take pride in their lives?”. We will be looking at beliefs, homes, significant individuals and the art of the Egyptian times to come this term and until Christmas. We are very excited to announce that we have an exciting workshop planned for the Hedgehogs’ class to enhance their learning. The workshop will be taking place in school during the morning of Wednesday 20th October 2021.
We will be spending the morning with an Ancient Egyptian guide who will take the children on a journey back in time to meet different characters, including Rashida a farmer who explains how important the Nile was to the Egyptians and about the different seasons. Children will also meet slaves hoping to impress the God Osiris by working for Cleopatra, and “Cleopatra” herself will make an appearance as well! She will be explaining what life was like in Egyptian times. She will be sharing her knowledge, expertise, props and artefacts with us. She will perform short, fun scenes and encourage the pupils to take part too.
The cost of the workshop will be £9.00 per child which can be paid online through Parent Pay (we cannot accept cash or cheques). We will require payment by no later than Tuesday 19th October 2021 to secure our booking.
We are looking forward to our Egyptian morning!
