WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Topic

This week we are learning about snails. We are going to look at the work of a famous artist who created a piece of artwork called “The Snail”. His name is Henry Matisse and he lived over 150 years ago in France.

Google Henri Matisse's work and have a look at and discuss his style. Look how colourful they are.  Please closely supervise children when using the internet.

Look at the painting 'The Snail'.  Why do you think this is called ‘The Snail’?

Discuss the piece – How do you think he made it?

Discuss the shapes, colours, how it makes you feel, likes/dislikes etc

Using torn up pieces of coloured paper, you can create your own version of 'The Snail' in the style of Matisse.
