Wow! What a fantastic first week we have had in the Owls Class! The children have all settled in really well in their new classroom.
We have had lots of fun this week! At the beginning of the week we designed and created our very own owls to fly high around our classroom (see the pictures below- they are looking amazing!). We also thought about our aspirations in Year 2 and what we would like to achieve by the end of the year. Can you tell someone at home one thing you would like to achieve/improve during your time in Year 2? We then created our own time capsules to be locked away until July 2022! Can you tell someone at home what we put in our time capsules?
In maths, we have recapped our work on recognising and making numbers to 50. The children used practical resources, such as their tens frames, to create numbers to 50. We have also been working on counting forwards and backwards to 50. Can you have a go at completing the missing numbers in these sequences?

In English, we have been recapping our work on using capital letters and full stops. Can you tell someone at home when we use a full stop and capital letter? (Remember there may be more than one reason for using a capital letter in a sentence). We then wrote a postcard talking all about our summer holidays. These were fantastic! I loved reading and hearing all about the wonderful things you have done this summer!
In topic, we have started our history topic: Ingenious Victorians. We started by looking at some of the things the Victorians invented. Can you tell someone at home something that was invented by the Victorians?
Well done for a brilliant first week! We hope you all have a super weekend!
See you Monday!
