What a fantastic first week we have had in the Owls Class. Well done everyone!
In maths, we started our first topic: place value. We have been counting and representing numbers to 100 and have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones using a part-whole model. We have also been busy comparing numbers to 50. Can you show someone at home what you have learnt this week? Use the greater than (>), less than (<) and equal to (=) symbol to compare these numbers. Remember your greedy crocodile!
42 __ 21
3 tens and 2 ones ___ 47
30 + 4 ___ 34
In English, we have introduced at our new topic book, The Queen's Handbag. Can you tell someone at home what happened in the story? We have been imitating the model text of the 'missing sneaky swan' who has stolen the Queen's handbag! We have recapped how to use capital letters and full stops, and have been using adjectives to describe landmarks around United Kingdom. Can you tell someone at home what a noun and an adjective is? Can you find some examples?
In topic, we have continued to look at our new class book, The Queen's Handbag. We have been learning all about the United Kingdom. Can you tell someone at home the 4 countries that make up the UK? We have also been busy making watercolour art inspired by J.M.W Turner- a famous English artist.
Have a wonderful weekend. I am looking forward to seeing you all next week for another brilliant week of learning and fun!
