We have had another busy week in Puffins. It has involved Investigating, Decimals and Adventures.
In English this week we started our new unit of Adventure Stories. We have studied our model text and thought about some different sentence structures that would add detail to our written work. We have also written diary entries from the point of view of the main character in our story. We thought carefully about his emotions and feelings and including them in our diary entry.
Maths has involved fractions and decimals.
Year 4 have worked on dividing 1 digit and 2 digit numbers by 10 and 100. Towards the end of the week we created our own board games to help us consolidate our learning
Year 5 have looked at fractions as decimals, understanding thousandths and thousandths as decimals. They have made a fantastic start to this aspect of Maths
They have all worked very hard!
We also carried out our solute investigation. There was lots of stirring and intense watching going on.
Our spellings this week are:
Year 4: The ‘s’ sound spelt ‘c’ before ‘I’ and ‘e’ – circle, century, centaur, circus, princess, voice, medicine, celebrate, celery, pencil.
Year 5: Homophones – aisle, isle, aloud, allowed, altar, alter, ascent, assent, farther, father.
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
The Puffins Team.
