We have had an action packed week this week with Christmas Jumper day and our Year 1 Christmas party on Thursday. We are almost meeting the end of this term! I just want to say a massive thank you to all the children for being so resilient and continuing their hard work towards the end of this term.
Read below to find out what we have been up to this week!
In our Maths learning this week, we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We have been learning the names of different shapes and talking about the differences between the shapes. We have also been sorting 2D shapes and 3D shapes into groups!
Here are some games to help practise our 2D and 3D shapes, including naming shapes and sorting them.

In our English this week, we rewrote our HOT WRITES to make them even better. The past few weeks, we have been learning about instructions and we have learnt how to edit and improve our work. We have particularly looked at how to include capital letters and adjectives in our work to make it better!
In our Topic learning this week, we have been learning about all the things that have made the Egyptian civilization 'great'. We looked at what the word 'great' and we learnt that the Egyptians were great for all their different inventions. Look at the pictures below and see if you can tell a grown up about the inventions that the Egyptians created! Which one do you think is the most important to this day? We also learnt about the River Nile and how that was important for so many Ancient Egyptians. Can you tell a grown up why the River Nile was so important?
This week, I awarded a SUCCESS certificate and two leaves. Well done to those children who received an award!
Christmas Parties and Jumper Day
We had such a good time at our Year 1 Christmas Party and enjoying our Christmas Dinner in our Christmas jumpers! Look below for some pictures of our fun!
What a wonderful half term this has been. It has definitely been a busy one with our nativity and managing all our learning. Please make sure to have a relaxing Christmas break and most importantly, stay safe. Thank you to all the parents for your support and contributions to this term's events.
Have a lovely break!
The Year 1 Team.
