Wow what an incredible week we have had in Hedgehogs class! This week, we have really started to get settled into our learning and we have commenced our normal Maths, English, Phonics, Topic, PSHE and PE lessons and the children have thoroughly enjoyed their week! Here is an overview of what we have been doing in each subject.
In our Maths learning this week, we have been looking at counting, sorting and representing numbers this week. We have been counting objects and recording the number of objects. We have also been using numicons, cubes and number beads to represent different numbers. We have even pushed ourselves to write numbers in numerals and words!
Can you see if you can find the number represented by these pictures below?
In our English learning this week, we have been learning a new story. We have been learning a Julia Donaldson book called Zog. The children have loved looking at the video footage of the dragon that I captured outside my garden, and hearing Zog's mummy tell us the story! We have produced story maps and we have watched the video of Zog. You are welcome to watch the link here if your child wishes to watch it again.
Can you read the class story map to your grown up?
In our Topic learning this week, we have been learning all about Ancient Egyptian children. We started looking at what a timeline was and we looked at our own timelines of our lives. We then looked at what jobs Ancient Egyptian children had and the games that they used to play and we found out that some of their games are similar to our games!
Can you tell a grown up about a job or a game that Ancient Egyptian children had?
This week, I awarded a PRIDE certificate and two leaves. Well done to those children, it was so hard to choose this week!
Have a lovely, relaxing weekend everyone.
