A jam-packed week in Puffins class again.  We have thought about how we would care for baby sloths, how we can convert between fractions and decimals and carried out an investigation involving mouldy bread!

In English this week we have carried on with our Instructions unit.  We have had a bit more of a GAPS focused week and looked in detail at modal verbs.  We have also thought about how we can add detail to our writing using a variety of descriptive vocabulary.  This will help us write even more accurate instructions, which we discovered were slightly harder to do when we created instructions for making a jam sandwich on Monday.  Who knew you could make a sandwich on a table with no plate (cleaned beforehand though!).

Maths has involved us looking at decimals to 3 decimal places and thinking about converting between decimals and fractions.  We have thought about how to partition a decimal number and how many tenths, hundredths and thousandths are in a whole.  Super Maths work this week Puffins.

British Science Week has involved us thinking about all of the different things in the world that grow.  This has included amongst others: people, plants and micro-organisms.  Sorry about the dust mite discovery!  This lead us nicely on to our investigation of the week, how easily does bacteria grow on our hands if we don’t wash them.  We began to carry out this investigation by touching bread with dirty hands, hand sanitised hands and then hands washed with soap.  The Puffins came up with some brilliant ideas for which piece of bread they predicted would grow the most amount of mould.  We shall see if their predictions were correct over the next few days.

We are now only one week away from our residential.  We hope you are as excited as we are!  If you have any questions about anything to do with the residential please do not hesitate to let us know.

Thank you, have a lovely weekend,

Stay safe
