Another busy week for the Owl Class!
In maths this week, we have been working on adding and subtracting 1s, finding 10 more and 10 less than a number and adding and subtracting 10s using the column method! The children worked really hard to find 10 more and 10 less than a number using their hundred squares. Can you tell someone at home what 10 more and 10 less than 43 is? Which column changes when you count in 10s, the tens or the ones? The children have also been working really hard on setting their column methods out really neatly in their working books. Can you show someone at home how we could work these additions and subtractions out using our column method? Remember- we always start with the ones!

In English, we have been writing our invented instructions on how to become an evil supervillain! The children have worked really hard to ensure they have included expanded noun phrases, adjectives, commas for lists, time conjunctions and imperative verbs within their writing. Can you tell someone at home one of your steps to becoming a supervillain?
In topic, we have been learning about real life heroes within our community. Can you tell someone at home, who keeps us safe in our community? The children were visited by a real police officer this afternoon! They learnt lots about the role of a police officer and how they keep us safe. The children were able to ask lots of questions and tried on some of the police uniform! Can you tell someone at home something exciting you learnt about the role of a police officer? Please check our class' 'Topic' page for photos! Next week, we will be learning about the role of a fire fighter and will be visiting Beeston Fire Station. We are very excited!
Well done Owls, you have all worked really hard this week!
