What another fantastic and busy week we have had in the Owls Class.
In maths, we have been comparing objects and numbers using the mathematical terminology 'greater than', 'less than' and 'equal to'. We have done a fantastic job at comparing concrete materials such as our base ten and counters. We have been comparing numbers and have also been comparing addition number sentences! Try and tell someone at home what the missing symbol (< > =) would be for this sum:
45 + 10 ____ 21 + 10
(Remember, the greedy crocodile always eats the bigger number!)
Next week we will be learning to count in groups of numbers. We will be counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s.
In English, we have been innovating the story of Supertato. We have innovated the main character to Superpineapple! In small groups we completed a shared write where we retold the Supertato story using our innovated ideas. We have aimed to include noun phrases and adverbs (ending ly) to make our writing brilliant and interesting. Next week we will be planning and writing our own Superhero stories involving all of the literary techniques that we have learnt over the past two weeks.
In Topic, we have been busy creating our very own super cars! At the start of the week we designed our cars and discussed the materials we would need in order to create them. We have now built our cars and have put our wheels on to ensure they move smoothly. Next week we will be decorating our cars using paint. We will then attach our engines (balloons) and test how far they can travel!
On Friday afternoon we all took part in the Repton School Fun Run! You all did a fantastic job and we had lots of fun taking part.
Have a well-earned rest this weekend.
