We have had a brilliant week last week of term in Owls’ Class.
In maths, we revisited the maths units we have completed over the Autumn term. We then showed our mathematical knowledge by completing an arithmetic and reasoning paper. The children worked really hard and did a fantastic job.
In English, we revisited some of the SPAG techniques we have learnt throughout the Autumn term. We then demonstrated our knowledge by completing a SPAG paper.
In topic, we designed our very own gingerbread superheroes. We were then lucky enough to have Mr Jones visit and help us to bring our designs to life! Afterwards, we evaluated our designs and used our ‘yellow thinking hats’ to discuss the positives of our designs and our ‘purple thinking hats’ to consider what we could do to make it even better.
On Tuesday afternoon we had our KS1 Christmas party. We had lots of fun playing games and dancing. We even had a visit from Santa! Thank you to all those who brought food in, it was a lovely treat for the children.
Homework and Spellings
There will be no spellings to learn over the Christmas break. However, some of the children have asked for some maths work to complete over the Christmas holiday. This half-term we have covered two topics in maths: addition and subtraction and money. I have produced two work sheets for the children to complete, covering the two topics of maths. Each child has received a copy of the homework, however if you need another copy please find it on our class page under the tab 'Homework'.
Please note that this homework is optional. Please do not feel this has to be completed. If children do wish to complete all or some of the worksheets, please could they bring them in on the first week back after the half-term.
Please continue to read with your children over the Christmas holidays and continue to use Spelling Shed, Maths Shed and Times Table Rock Stars to aid their learning.
The children have had a fantastic first term in Owls Class, I am very proud of all of their hard work. I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing Christmas break.
