What a super week we have had this week in our learning. The Hedgehogs have worked really hard in their learning. Look below to find out what we have been doing!
In our Maths learning this week, we have been counting forwards and backwards and finding one more and one less. We have been using numicons, cubes and dominos to show one less and one more. We learnt how that if we want to find one more, we are adding one more, and when we find one less, we subtract one.
Can you find one more and one less from these dinosaur pictures?
In our English learning this week, we have been very busy. We have been writing the story of Zog in our own words and I was blown away by the impressive sound talking and blending, as well as how creative the children have been. We then learnt how to innovate the story of Zog. We changed the character of Zog to be... Mr Armishaw's dog, Digby! Here is our story map below.
Can you read the innovated story map back to your grown up?
In our Topic learning this week, we have been learning all about jobs this week. We have been looking at what children's lives were like in Egyptian times and what chores they did. We then looked at what jobs the adults did too. We learnt that there was a 'hierarchy' of jobs that we showed in a pyramid.
Can you tell a grown up about the jobs Egyptians had by looking at this picture?
This week, I awarded a PRIDE certificate and two leaves. Well done to those children, it was so hard to choose this week!
Have a lovely, relaxing weekend everyone.
Mr Armishaw & the Year 1 Team.
