W/c 20th September 2021

Well, what a fast week our third week has been.  It has involved lots of research, negative numbers and writing our own lost tale.

English involved us beginning to write our lost tale.  We thought about all of the features that had been in our model text to insure we included as many of these as we possibly could.  I was so impressed with all of the beautiful sentences and how much thought all of the Puffins had put into putting themselves in the shoes of a newly evacuated child.  They have also edited them and presented them beautifully.

In Maths we began learning about negative numbers, we thought about how differently negative numbers work and solved reasoning problems going over 0.

Within our Topic lessons we learnt about the incredible battle of Dunkirk.  We thought about how incredibly brave the soldiers must have been on the beaches of Dunkirk, and how courageous the captains of the ‘Little Ships’ had been to endanger their lives to help the soldiers and the War effort.  The children also created beautiful silhouette art pieces paying tribute to these ‘Little Ships’ or the people of the cities who were bombed in the Blitz.

Thank you very much for all of your cardboard donations, they will all go to great use when we carry out our big WWII project over the next couple of weeks.

Thank you to all of the Puffins for handing in their homework as well.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Stay safe

The Puffins Team.
