Another fun-filled week in Puffins Class again.
In English this week we have looked more closely at the opening part of “Lights on Cotton Rock” and thought about how we could create our opening passage for a similar story. We have thought about adding description using our Five senses and how both Dictionaries and Thesauruses can improve our vocabulary.
Within Maths we have carried on looking at our topic of Number and Place Value, we have begun to think more about adding on in 1000’s, as well as rounding to bigger numbers. The children also did brilliantly at Times Table Rockstars this week as we were top of the very first leaderboard this year! Well done Puffins, keep up the brilliant work.
We carried on researching and creating a timeline of the progression of the Space Race throughout the 21st Century. We learnt some brilliant facts, including: the first living thing to travel into Space was a fly, and a Chimpanzee travelled into Space before humans did.
Within class, we are beginning to set up email addresses for all of the children on Microsoft Teams, which will mean they will be able to access home learning and homework through this platform. Thank you in advance for your email addresses to allow us to do this.
Our Spellings this week are:
Year 4: ‘in’ becomes ‘il’, ‘in’ becomes ‘ir’ – illegal, illegible, immature, immortal, impossible, impatient, imperfect, irregular, irrelevant, irresponsible.
Year 5 – Words ending in ‘ious’ – ambitious, infectious, fictitious, nutritious, repetitious, amphibious, curious, devious, notorious, obvious.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
