We have had another very busy week in Puffins class. Winter has definitely hit as well, so can we just ask that the children bring appropriate winter clothing for break-times. Thank you.
In Maths, Year 4 have carried on looking in more detail at multiplication. We have covered the 3, 6 and 9 times table thinking carefully about our reasoning and explanation skills as well as answering questions in different ways.
Year 5 have also looked at Multiplication and Division, in particular multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.
Within English we have begun looking at the wonderful poem that is “The Christmas Truce” by Hilary Robinson. We started of the week by reading the story, thinking carefully about what this poem is based on. Through this poem we have identified relative pronouns and clauses as well as rhyming patterns and repetition that is evident.
We have begun the very interesting Art unit of self-portraits. We have looked at a variety of different self-portraits by famous artists and how they differ depending on the time period. We then went on to sketch our own self-portraits. As the topic carries on we are going to focus on each part of our faces to really improve our skills.
Our spellings this week are:
Year 4: Words with ‘sh’ spelt ‘ch’ – chef, chalet, machine, brochure, parachute, chute, chaperone, chandelier, crochet, quiche.
Year 5: Words ending in ‘-ably’ and ‘-ibly’ – reliably, dependably, comfortably, possibly, horribly, terribly, visibly, incredibly, sensibly, legibly.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
