WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W.C. 25.4.22

I hope you all had a lovely, relaxing summer break. We have had such a fantastic start to our Summer Term, full of new, exciting learning! Look below to see what we have been up to!

Maths

In our Maths learning this week, we have moved onto our new unit of Multiplication and Division. We have been consolidating our work on counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and we have looked at how we can use our counting knowledge to help count equal groups. We learnt how we can add groups quickly by counting in our 2s, 5s and 10s. We also even went one step further and represented these groups using part-whole models and even bar models! See if you can show your grown-up how to use a bar model! Here are some pictures of our work below!

Can you describe these groups below? If you can, challenge yourself to write a repeated addition sentence and even bar model the addition sentences!

English

In our English learning, we have started a new model text. We are looking at recount writing for the next few weeks. We have looked at the model text called "Mr Armishaw's Fantastic Easter Day". It is a day in the past that Mr Armishaw wants to tell the children all about! We talked about features of a recount such as that it is in the past tense, it has lots of information and it normally includes feelings and ajdectives. We learnt the model text by drawing a story map and creating the story map using the Mighty Writer kit. Below is the model text. See if your child can tell you any details about the day? Can they draw some pictures of Mr Armishaw's recount?

Science

You may have noticed that I have no longer called this section "Topic". This is because, for the next term, we are going to focus purely on Science. We are starting off our science by looking at the Human Body and looking at why the human body is so special. On Wednesday, we found that there were loads of body parts! We had a fun lesson where we drew around a child and then labelled all their body parts on some paper! On Friday, we then talked about our senses and why they are so important. We talked about what parts of the body do we use for our senses. We also created a "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes song" but changed it to go with new body parts that we had learnt! Below are some pictures of our human body labelling + a challenge!

Can you label the human body parts below! See if you can write them down and bring the labels into class to earn some house points!

What a great week we have had! Have a lovely weekend.
