What a lovely and busy half-term is has been! This week we have completed our Fractions unit, written Newspaper Articles and had a day filled with IKEA fun. Read on to find out more…
In English we have completed our Newspaper articles. The children thought back to Science week and created an article based on this. We used all of the features that we had learnt about throughout our unit to help us. These included: third person, indirect and direct speech and pictures with captions. Some super Newspaper articles were produced, definitely some budding reporters in our midst.
In Maths we completed our first Fractions unit. We thought about equivalent fractions and using a fraction wall to help us find them. This knowledge will all be built on when we come to do our second Fractions unit.
Wednesday saw a wonderful visit from Izzy and Sarah who work at IKEA, what a wonderful way to finish off our Geography topic on Sweden. They told us all about the History of IKEA, it’s founder and how the company started. Can you tell your grown-up why the company are called IKEA. We learnt that they are one of the most sustainable company in the world, tell your grown-up why. We carried out lots of different activities throughout the day including flat-packing ourselves, team-building exercises and making our own flags. Have a look at all of the things we did below.
Your child has a Year 1 and 2 and Year 3 and 4 spelling list in their bag to practice over half term if they like as well as some Easter Maths Challenge cards. Please do these as and when you want.
The children also have a Colour Run sponsorship form in their bag.
On the first Monday back (17th April) is class photo day. Therefore, if your child could come to school in their normal school uniform and bring their PE kit to change into in the afternoon.
Thank you for your continued support.
I hope you have a well-deserved Easter break and we look forward to seeing you for the Summer term.
Stay safe
