WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/c 31st October 2022

Welcome back to our Autumn Term 2!  I hope you had a lovely restful half term break and are ready to get back into the excitement of this half term.

We have hit the ground running in English this week as we have begun to look at our new unit of Stories from another Culture.  We have looked at our WAGOLL, ‘The Catch’.  We read this through together, created symbol maps for it and learnt it using actions.  We also looked at its different features.  We also looked at a variety of different stories from other cultures and identified the features in these.

This will help us when we create our own Story from another Culture.

In Maths we have now begun looking at the formal method for addition and subtraction.  See if you can explain to your grown up whether this statement is True or False.

Next week we will begin to think about exchanging in Column Subtraction.

We have begun creating our own Mosaics in Topic, we have thought about why Romans created Mosaics, what they were used for and why they were important.

In Science we began our new unit learning all about Plants.  We learnt about the different parts of the plant and what their job is.  The children created some lovely Plant lift the flap books.

We have begun our new Computing topic which will involve us coding using Scratch.  The children really impressed me with what they already knew, I can’t wait to see what they can create by the end of this topic.

It is that time of year where we begin selling Poppies in the Entrance of school.  Your child can begin the suggested donation to school to buy a poppy at breaktime or after school.

Have a lovely weekend.

Stay safe
